Chlorophyll is the “porphyrin” in plants that allows them to photosynthesise. We have porphyrins in our blood – haemoglobin. This is a metal ion surrounded by organic stuff and is involved in delivering energy. In us, blood delivers oxygen. In plans, chlorphyll helps absorb light and harness the energy to make glucose and oxygen.

Plants are important for maintaining the atmosphere with plenty opf oxygen for us to breathe and providing glucose which can then make starches and are sources of food. So animals rely on plants for food and air, plants reply on chlorphyll.

Because it is the most green form of energy conversion on the planet! It absorbs the light from the sun and through photosynthesis converts water and carbon dioxide into oxygen (useful if we want to breathe) and sugar a source of energy 🙂
