Tea break. The best discussions and ideas happen over tea 🙂

My colleagues. For all the times they interrupt my concentration there are a dozen times they help me out, suggest cool new ideas or bring me tea when I am sad all my experiments failed. Scientists say “we” a lot, especially in papers or anything important – we’re a team and we get our best results when we work together.

I agree – talking work over with colleagues is the most important part of the day; you need time to stand back, reflect, and to ‘bounce ideas around’. Half an hour of stopping, thinking and discussing ideas can save days of wasted time barking up the wrong tree with experiments because you have overlooked something.
