Sometimes I make universal indicator by boiling red cabbage. I’ve tried to make gunpowder, but that didn’t work. I’ve burnt all kinds if plastic to see what fumes they give off (don’t – it’s dangerous and not the most fun really…) and put mints in pop to make a fizz pressure explosion. I also like making custard and other non Newtonian fluids, or slimes from gelling agents like alginate. I’ve tried making dyes and cleaning solutions too. I think as I got older I’ve done more practical and fewer.destructive “fun” home experiments.
