That moment when you didn’t understand something, worked really hard at it, thought you’d never understand then got a sudden sense of realisation. It makes all the hard work worth it when you get that. A massive rush of validation.

Hmmmmm, at the moment I really enjoy optics and spectroscopy, and anything that burns is good too!
It changes, I get excited about new ideas and new things that I learn each day, so ask agin next week it might be x-rays again!

At the moment I am starting a new research job working with MRI imaging – this is a period of learning lots and lots of new things, and understanding exactly how MRI works and how the images are put together – this period of learning is very intense and overwhelming – but after 3 weeks of being totally consumed by MRI something has ‘clicked’ in my head and things are all suddenly clear in my head – this is the best moment in science – when you suddenly understand something after weeks of trying to get your head around it.

      Hello,
I think I enjoy speaking to other scientists (and anyone who is interested) about my research but also being able to find out about theirs. Learning new things about subject you have never been involved with is pretty amazing especially when you know you are being told by one of the world’s experts on the subject! 🙂
