      When creating the molecular sieves I have to consider a few things. First is reaction conditions: I want to make my sieves phase pure. That is, 100% the product I wanted. This means I have to be careful with pressure, temperature, heating time and weighing out ingredients. Once I have a pure sieve I have to decide which metals to put in and how much of them and what charge I want on them (meaning more reactions and modifications). The metal charge is very important because I need to change harmful chromium (+6) to not-so-harmful chromium (+3) which happens when the metals swap electrons in a redox reaction. They also swap in and out of the sieve at the same time:

      3Fe(+2)(sieve) + Cr(+6)(solution) -> Fe(+3)(sieve) + Cr(+3)(sieve) + 2Fe(+3)(solution)

      I also have to choose a sieve and maybe a template to control the sizes of the sieve holes to make sure my starting metals like iron (Fe) go in, but that my final metal, Cr(+3) is better than Fe(+3) so these will also swap. It’s very fiddly stuff!

      The aim of all this is to remove toxic Cr(+6) from waste water.

      Scientology is a cult-like spiritual church. Its beliefs include the idea of reincarnation and “baggage” from previous lives: you are being punished now for your mistakes in previous lives. The only way to overcome it is to work out what you have done by going through traumas and failings in your current life so you can be made spiritually pure. This will then unlock special magical powers like telepathy.

      Molecular sieves have no direct application for scientology, because scientologists are not that keen on modern science, especially medicine. Some won’t go to doctors at all. However, the molecular sieve can be used to explain scientology by comparison: the molecular sieve has the job of letting all the waste water or gas flow (memories) through it and selects out the bad stuff (bad memories) and holds onto them (scientologists call this “auditing”). The good stuff, now clean or cleaner, flows out (spiritual purity) and because it is not contaminated may be released (special magical powers unlocked).
