Yes. I think every job is at times, especially if you are easily distracted like I am.

I think it goes in bouts. There are times when I am overwhelmed with work and ideas and it is very fast paced and stressful but exciting. Then there are slack times where I am waiting on other people and there isn’t much to do except admin and it’s very boring. Luckily I do a lot of things outside work that keep me entertained, like science communication and climbing instructing.

Sometimes, if there are a lot of repeat experiments to do or if something isn’t working out the way it should, but most of the time there is enough going on to keep me interested 🙂

Like Rowena, I do more than one job so I’m always busy, so if one job gets boring another one takes over for a little while.

Yes! all work is boring sometimes…. the worst parts are writing to companies to buy in chemicals, chasing up orders, or trying to get quotes for labware – all very boring administration tasks.. There is also washing up to do all the time….. when you finish your chemical reactions you have all the glassware to clean up!

Also there are some parts of the actual science that can get a bit boring – if you are repeating the same experiment over and over again this can get a bit tiring – and then you know it is time to do something different for a while so that you don’t lose your drive!
