• Question: How long do you think it will be before this technology is made commercial?

      There are commercial solar cells made with titainium dioxide, which is quite similar, instead of rods they are just a spongey mixture. The move to zinc oxide probably wouldn’t take very long, so if a company decided to try they could probably do it in 5 years. If a new company was set up to try and make new devices out of it then it may take longer, probably up to 10 years. At the moment there are still a few problems with them not being transparent enough and not always conducting the electricity generate very well so those things will make it take longer before they can be made into commercial cells.
