I quite like the “Big Crunch” theory that eventually the universe expansion will slow down and gravitational effects will start to take over. Then everything will start contracting back together and finish with an almight CRUNCH. This theory is interesting because it suggests a cyclic universe from which a new Big Bang could begin and reset everything.

I think that the universe will go via entropy death, which essentially means the universe expands forever; everything in the universe will reach the same temperature and there will be no way of extracting any more energy to do anything with.

In terms of how planet earth will end, I assume it will be consumed by the sun when it expands in a few billions years time.

How the human race might end is probably the most interesting, if we don’t leave our planet and spread out across the universe we are in danger of mass extinction from asteroids, there might be some sort of superbug. Maybe the worst but most likely option is that we manage to destroy ourselves in a large nuclear war which leaves the earth uninhabitable to humans.

I hope that we manage to leave the earth and stop our warring ways before thay happens though
