      Colour is a scale of shades not a set of finite quantities so there are essentially an infinite number of colours. There is also a limit to how similar shades can be and the human eye can differentiate so actually we limit how many colours there can “be” – if you like, this means they are all discovered. However, there could easily be colours beyond the bounds of what we can now see that we might be able to find new ways of “seeing” like how we can see infra red as heat. 🙂
