I once found some gold mess in the lab so I did some analysis on it to see what it was. Turned out mostly to be copper oxides! I thought they were black or copper coloured!

This may sound quite naive, and you can tell that I am not a biologist – but I was really surprised when I looked at blood under the microscope for the first time…. although you see it in text books, and you see the pictures of red blood cells, for some reason I was really fascinated when I saw them for myself – red blood cells really do look just like textbook pictures! And even though I know that blood is not a red liquid, rather red cells flowing in a clear fluid – I was still fascinate to actually see it!

That a group of people in physics were trying to make graphene from dog poo. Some science is really odd! I was a bit grossed out by the idea – especially when they asked me to look at their samples using the Raman machine, but thankfully it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. I think I was surprised that anyone could think up an experiment like that.
