I’m not quite sure what you are referring to, if you mean the solar cell demonstration then the idea is to allow people to gain familiarity with idea of generating solar power. The experiment itself should be interesting enough to hold the pupils’ attention and give me time to explain the importance of all sorts of renewable energy sources. Once people know how much we need solar panels and wind turbines they might stop complaining about them being built in their neighbourhood.
@Kieran, I don’t know why they complain. I think turbines and solar panels are beautiful. Whenever I take the train into Oxford I look out for them on the approach.
I can see why solar cells may not be seen as good looking, but I have seen recent panels where they can change the colour, so I think the next generation ones will look much cooler. I do like the look of wind turbines, and always think that people who live in massive mansions complaining about objects ruining the countryside is a bit hypocritical.
